![]() In the end it's a balance and all AV's paid or free will collect data. They are disabled when the buttons for both say the word Accept. click Decline (If already disabled it will say Accept). To disable: Settings, Additional, Additional protection., Kaspersky Security Network Statement click Decline (If already disabled it will say Accept) / Statement regarding marketing. Their marketing option should always be declined anyway. KSN is a two-way system that provides you with stronger protection in exchange for supplying Kaspersky with more information. If you wished to reduce the amount of info you supply to Kaspersky, switch off KSN. I'd say while Defender offers decent protection and can be 'tweaked' even further, Kaspersky is still stronger. If you switched to Defender real-time, their cloud protection and sample submission options would provide Microsoft with a similar amount of information as Kaspersky. It's what they then do with it afterwards. All AVs collect data they have to, to function. I'd agree with mad153 the reddit post was a bit of misunderstood fearmongering.
